Clements Stone Arch Bridge - Clements, Kansas

clementsbridge.jpgClements Stone Arch Bridge - Clements, Kansas

This pice of history was built in 1887 of native limestone.  The two-span bridge with a main span of 57.1 feet and a length of 126.9 feet is now open only to pedestrians. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on Dec. 12, 1976. Clements is located west of Strong City just south of Highway 50. Watch for the brown KDOT sign indicating where to turn to find the bridge.

This unique bridge is being supported by the grandson of the people that used to own a hotel in Clements.  Because he grew up in the community he has taken on the challenge of preserving and upgrading this piece of history.  His name is Gary Evans, of Seattle, Washington.
